Silicon Valley Bank, which ranks as the 16th largest bank in the United States with $209 billion in assets, has collapsed after a run on deposits thwarted its efforts to raise capital. As a result, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp (FDIC) has taken control of the bank. Insured depositors will be able to access their funds by Monday morning.
