Crypto casino Duelbits will stay offline longer than planned after a Thursday hack that co-founder Joe put at about $7 million. At 2:28 p.m. ET Friday, Joe said on X that the casino needs more downtime to make sure everything is secure and to refill its hot and cold wallets. He said user funds are safe and that customers will be able to withdraw immediately if they want to.

On Thursday evening, Joe had said the team identified what happened and expected Duelbits to be back within about 15 hours. The company is “rebuilding our deposit and withdrawal servers to make sure everything is 100% secure,” he wrote, and he promised an official statement within 24 hours. On Friday morning, Duelbits said in a post that it was finishing “final security checks” and promised a more detailed update soon. None of those posts has described the cause. Joe has said only that a few people had “ruined it for everyone else” without saying who.

How the Funds Moved

At 5:52 a.m. ET, Scam Sniffer posted that Duelbits hot wallets had sent about $4.2 million to newly created addresses across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Tron, and called it a suspected private key compromise. PeckShield counted about $4.3 million on Ethereum and BNB Chain.

Duelbits posted at 7:42 a.m. ET that it was investigating “a security incident affecting the site” and had shut the site down while it did. Duelbits has not publicly said which wallets account for the rest of the roughly $7 million.

PeckShield said the attacker had swapped that haul into about 1,588 ETH and 31,500 DAI. By 8:55 a.m. ET, the ether had been routed through a second address into a wallet that now holds about 2,333.6 ETH, some of it from other addresses, and has not sent any out since, onchain records show.

Duelbits Was Hit Before, in 2024

Duelbits was also hit in February 2024, when CertiK reported that about $4.6 million was taken from the casino.

Thursday’s attack came the same day Bitget was hit. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said about $351.6 million was taken from the exchange’s hot and warm wallets.
