Crypto exchanges and custodians have to keep track of what happens to the tokens they hold or list, from exploits and outages to network upgrades, token migrations and governance votes. Many pay data providers to watch those projects and send an alert when something material happens.
At Blockworks, one of those providers, alerts went through an analyst first. “Before today’s launch, analysts manually verified each development,” Jason Yanowitz, the company’s co-founder, told Unchained. “That took roughly 8min per development.”
That lag has become a problem for the desks using the service, according to Yanowitz. “As onchain activity scales, the market prices events in seconds rather than minutes,” he said. “Our customers told us they now need alerts in near real-time.”
On Thursday, Blockworks rolled out Agentic Detection, a setting that lets customers receive alerts produced by AI agents before an analyst reviews them. It runs inside Monitoring, a product Messari built before Blockworks bought the data firm in June.
How It Works
“Now we’ve trained a proprietary model on years of analyst work so agents can identify alerts in seconds instead of minutes,” Yanowitz told Unchained.
According to Blockworks, the agents watch posts on X, Discord and Telegram, code on GitHub, governance forums, project blogs and over 1,000 news sources, covering more than 1,000 assets, and file each item under one of 55 subcategories.
Customers can pipe the alerts into Slack, Telegram or email, or pull them through webhooks and an API.
Items flagged by the agents are marked Agent-detected, and items an analyst has checked are marked Analyst-verified. Unless a customer opts in to agent alerts for a particular view, it keeps receiving only the verified ones.
Seconds Instead of Minutes
Agentic Detection “gives alerts in 5 seconds compared to the 8-10min” of the old process, Yanowitz told Unchained. Blockworks is marketing the agent alerts to teams deciding on token listings or reacting to exploits.
Yanowitz declined to name customers, but told Unchained that “the majority of tier one exchanges and custodians leverage Monitoring to track the assets on their platform.”
First Launch Since the Messari Deal
Blockworks said Agentic Detection is the first major product it has released since closing the Messari acquisition. When it announced that purchase, the company wrote that “as trading itself goes agentic, all of it needs to be accessible through an API that AI, not just people, can act on.”
