Crypto data software company Coin Metrics has raised $6.7 million in new funding, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday. A company spokesperson confirmed in an email to Unchained Crypto that the capital came from a new, undisclosed investor.
According to the filing, Coin Metrics raised $6,734,007 through the sale of equity and a category that includes options, warrants and other rights to acquire another security. The date of the first sale is listed as Oct. 5.
Coin Metrics provides network and market data, indexes and network risk solutions to institutions that invest in crypto. The company last raised $35 million in a Series C funding round in April 2022. The round was led by Acrew Capital and BNY Mellon with participation from Goldman Sachs and Fidelity Investments.
Founded in 2017, Coin Metrics has a stacked board of directors that includes venture capitalists Nic Carter and Matthew Walsh of Castle Island Ventures, Goldman Sachs managing director Mathew McDermott and Katey Neate, the COO of digital assets at BNY Mellon.
